6:30-8pm Workshop
‘Drawing inspiration from my Constellations series of concrete poems and the broader movement of Latin American concrete poetry, we will delve into a poetic practice where words are not just read, but seen, felt, and constructed. Concrete poetry rearranges language into shapes, textures, and spatial compositions. In the context of haberdashery and art, we’ll treat letters like threads, syllables like stitches, and lines like patterns—crafting poems that are both linguistic and material. Participants will engage with de Campos’s techniques of visual arrangement, fragmentation, and typographic play, and will be invited to create their own constellation-poems using prompts inspired by fabrics, fastenings, and the rich materiality of sewing. No prior experience with poetry or textile art is necessary—just a willingness to experiment, collage, and reimagine language in space.’ — Leo Boix
