All these things happen here: book launches; private views; Edinburgh Festival rehearsals; film shoots; singing lessons; life drawing; chess club; writing workshops; poetry crits; exhibitions; funerals; piano practice; tai chi; political meetings; swimming club AGM. You can organise something too!
Events
- Torriano Meeting House accommodates not more than 40 people.
- There is a ramp from the street for wheelchairs. However the toilet is not wheelchair accessible - two steps up and two steps down. Acoustics are excellent without amplification.
- No amplified music.
- Please don't gather and talk outside in the evenings, sound disturbs neighbours.
- We have no paid staff so please, please take rubbish away with you and tidy up ready for the next users.
Scale of charges
£18 per hour for first two hours.
£15 for each additional hour.
£80 for a 7 hour day.
Add £10 per session voluntary heating contribution to gas bill from November to April.
Payment in advance will guarantee your booking.
Torriano Meeting House is entirely user funded. Extra donations to Torriano are very welcome.
Exhibitions
If you wish to exhibit at Torriano Meeting House please submit 3 images and a proposal to the Torriano Working Group Exhibitions are generally a month long. Private view evenings are charged for at the regular hire rate. 20% commission on sales. We welcome and will try to accommodate work of all forms - installations; twig sculptures; ceramics; paintings; mobiles; projections. However other activities will always be taking place during the period of exhibition unless the room is rented for a daily hire fee. Please use our hanging system, no nails or screws to be used in walls and any damage to be made good. There is a £100 deposit returnable on satisfactory exhibition take down.
