Susan de Muth will lead a close reading and discussion of Cancelled Confessions, the English translation of Claude Cahun’s Aveux non avenus. The session will explore the structure, voice, and conceptual strategies of the text, considering how Cahun’s writing negotiates identity, desire, politics, and resistance.
The workshop will focus on questions of translation, form, and interpretation, examining how Cahun’s experimental writing operates across image, prose, and philosophical reflection. Participants will be invited to read closely and reflect on the text’s continuing relevance. Suggestions and questions from participants are encouraged.
Discounted copies of the 2024 edition will be available for sale at the event, or in advance here; extracts selected for the event will be printed out for participants
