The young members of the Highgate & Holloway Woodcraft Folk District are putting on an exhibition at Torriano Meeting House, on behalf of Woodcraft Folk London Region, to commemorate 100 years of Woodcraft Folk, the co-operative movement for children and young people.
If you’ve been a part of the Woodcraft Folk, or if you are curious about the movement, please join us at our launch party or on one of our exhibition open days! There will be activities for children and young people, and all those young in spirit.
Who are the Woodcraft Folk?
Woodcraft Folk has been running for 100 years, and though it still bears a strong resemblance to the first groups that were set up by young activists in south London in 1924-5, it has changed over the past century. We still draw on our heritage and what we’ve learnt as we move forward.
Every week thousands of volunteers and young people meet in school halls, community venues and a host of other places. There they learn about big ideas through fun activities like singing, camping, playing and debating. The work we do supports our young members to build a peaceful, fairer world, and to develop their own ideas, their self-confidence and their skills. We work to ensure that young people’s voices are listened to and amplified, so they can take an active role in shaping our world and their future.
We believe passionately in equality, co-operation, peace and international friendship, and everyone is welcome to join us. Find out more on our website.
Explore the exhibition, hear testimonies, sing a song, play a game, make a badge, record a memory.
Exhibition open days: There will be self-guided activities for children to explore the exhibition materials, and opportunities for visitors to record their reactions to the exhibits and their own memories.
