4 films by Roland Denning celebrating marginal figures in declining industries.
For the inaugural night of the Torriano Meeting House’s Film Club, we will be screening short films by documentary filmmaker Roland Denning. His work moves between poetic and observational modes, with a playful interaction between filmmaker and subject.

Isobel Landell Mills, film curator, will host the evening and introduce the works, with a conversation with Roland after the screening. We invite all those interested in documentaries and experimental films and Kentish Town life.
Roland Denning is a documentary filmmaker. With a career spanning 3 decades Roland worked in lighting and camera departments on productions before moving into directing and producing. With a wide range of work embracing various unique styles, Roland’s makes both narrative observational films and more experimental work, using archive material and found footage. His films have won awards at Portobello Film Festival. From 1994 to 2005 he had a film company metadata, with director Mike Stubbs, who has also screened his early work at the Torriano Meeting House.
Isobel Landell Mills is a curator and filmmaker, interested in personal and collective myth making. She has curated a season of film screenings at the Torriano and is currently working on several independent documentary projects. She recently worked at Sheffield Doc fest and Open City.

Torriano Meeting House has a long tradition of encouraging experimental and non fiction filmmaking, having worked closely with the London Filmmakers Coop in the 1980s and 1990s.
