A big part of The Drawing Year experience was sharing a studio, drawing together every day in lessons and after the year ended we wanted the opportunity to draw and create together again.
Our residency began and was mostly in Guarda, more than two hours by train from Zurich, in the municipality of Scuol. We stayed in two houses, connected by a passage through the basement. One house was built in the 17th Century and the other the 20th century. We then moved to St. Gallen, Maj Dörig’s hometown, for the remainder of the trip.
We have all created work with such different responses to the trip. Some of us, such as myself and Arthur Boothby, quickly brought details of the trip into our work . Others, such as George Meadows, brought the atmosphere, a feeling from the trip into their work . - Keziah Mornin
